കേരളത്തിൻ്റെ ഭൂപ്രകൃതി
പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിൻ്റെ തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ പ്രാന്തങ്ങളിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന കേരളത്തിൻ്റെ സവിശേഷത അസമമായ ഭൂപ്രകൃതിയാണ്. അതിൻ്റെ ഭൂപ്രകൃതിയിൽ ആധിപത്യം പുലർത്തുന്നത് തിരമാലകളാൽ കീഴടക്കിയ കുന്നുകളും കുത്തനെയുള്ള സ്കാർപ്പ് ചരിവുകളും ആണ്, കൂടാതെ അതിൻ്റെ ഉയരം സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽ നിന്ന് ശരാശരി സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽ നിന്ന് 2,694 മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരത്തിലാണ്.
ഭൂപ്രകൃതി
താഴ്‌വാരങ്ങൾ
മുപ്പതു മുതൽ 300 വരെ മീറ്റർ ഉയരത്തിലുള്ള താഴ്‌വാര മേഖല പൊതുവേ നദീജന്യ തലങ്ങളാണ്.
പശ്ചിമഘട്ടം
ഡക്കാൻ പീഠഭൂമിയുടെ പടിഞ്ഞാറേ അതി രിലൂടെ അറബിക്കടലിനു സമാന്തരമായി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന പർവ്വത നിരയാണ് പശ്ചിമ ഘട്ടം. സഹ്യപർവ്വതം എന്നും അറിയപ്പെ ടുന്ന ഈ പർവ്വത നിരകൾ ഗുജറാത്ത്, മഹാ രാഷ്ട്ര, ഗോവ, കർണാടക, കേരളം, തമിഴ് നാട് എന്നീ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലായി വ്യാ പിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്നു. 1.600 കീ.മീ ദൈർഘ്യമുണ്ട്. പശ്ചിമഘട്ടം ഉൾപ്പെട്ട ജൈവമേഖലക്ക് മഹാവൈവിധ്യപ്രദേശം (Bio-diverstiy Hot spot) എന്ന ബഹുമതി ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിലെ 2695 മീറ്റർ ഉയരമുള്ള ആനമുടിയാണ് കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയ രം കൂടിയ പർവതം.
കായലുകൾ, തടാകങ്ങൾ
കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ കായലാണ് വേമ്പനാട് കായൽ ഭാരതത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും നീളം കൂടിയ തടാകവും ഇതുതന്നെ ആലപ്പുഴ എറ ണാകുളം, കോട്ടയം ജില്ലകളിലായി പരന്നു കിട ക്കുന്ന വേമ്പനാടിൻ്റെ വിസ്തീർണം 1512 ച.കി മി ആണ്. 14 കി.മി ഏറ്റവും കൂടിയ വീതി
വലിപ്പംകൊണ്ട് കേരളത്തിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ കായലാണ് കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലുള്ള അഷ്ടമുടിക്കാ യൽ. പനയുടെ ആകൃതിയിൽ ഈ കായൽ കാ ണപ്പെടുന്നു.

തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിൽ തെക്കു മാറി കോ വളത്തിനു സമീപം കല്ലിയൂർ. വെങ്ങാനൂർ പഞ്ചായത്തുകളിലായി വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്ന ഒരു കായലാണ് വെള്ളായണി കായൽ സംസ്ഥാന ത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ 3-ാമത്തെ ശുദ്ധജലത ടാകമാണിത്
വയനാട് ജില്ലയിൽ വൈത്തിരി താലൂക്കിലെ കുന്നത്തിടവക എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ പൂക്കോട് ശുദ്ധജല തടാകം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. തടാ കത്തിന്റെ വിസ്തീർണം 13 ഏക്കറാണ്.

Topography Of Kerala
Located in the southwestern fringes of the Western Ghats, Kerala is characterized by an asymmetrical topography. Its landform is dominated by undulating, subdued hills and steep scarp slopes, and its altitude ranges from below mean sea level to 2,694 meters above mean sea level.

Malanad, which is 46 percent of Kerala’s total area, is located at an altitude of 600 meters to 2,500 meters above sea level. 10,653 sq. km. This is the visa solution of Malanad. - Edanad

The low-lying zone between 30 and 300 meters elevation is generally fluvial levels.
Western Ghats
The Western Range is a mountain range along the western border of the Deccan Plateau, parallel to the Arabian Sea. Also known as Sahyaparvatam, these mountain ranges are spread across the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It is 1,600 km long. The biological region comprising the Western Ghats has been awarded the title of Bio-diversity Hot spot. Anamudi is the highest mountain in Kerala at a height of 2695 meters in the Western Ghats.
Backwaters and lakes
Vembanad Lake is the largest lake in Kerala and is the longest lake in India. The area of Vembanad is 1512 sq.km. 14 km maximum width
Ashtamudikkayal in Kollam district is the second largest kayal in Kerala. This backwater is shaped like a palm tree.
Shastamkota lake in Kunnathur taluk of Kollam district is the largest and cleanest water lake in Kerala covering an area of 3.75 sq km.
Kalliyoor is located south of Thiruvananthapuram district near Koh Valam. Vellayani Kayal is a lake spread across Venganur panchayats and is the 3rd largest fresh water tank in the state.
Pookode freshwater lake is located in the village of Kunnathithavaka in Vaithiri taluk of Wayanad district. The area of the plot is 13 acres.
